Managing emotions is not always easy. Stress, anxiety, and life changes can make it hard to stay grounded. Therapy is helpful, but what about those in-between moments when you need a little extra support? In today’s world of technology, there is an app for almost anything. While no app can replace real human connection, I’ve found that using the right ones can be surprisingly beneficial! Whether you’re looking for prayer reminders, simple breathing exercises, or a way to track your emotions, there’s something out there that fits. I have compiled a list of my favorite mental health apps to help you feel more in control of your well-being.

Best for: Emotional awareness

Created by psychologists and emotion researchers, How We Feel helps you track your emotions and understand patterns over time. It encourages self-reflection and mindfulness while guiding you in processing your feelings.

Best for: Building self-care habits in a fun way

If you like the idea of gamifying self-care, Finch is for you. You get a cute little bird that grows and thrives as you complete wellness activities like deep breathing, gratitude journaling, and goal-setting. It’s simple, fun, and motivating!

Best for: Daily scripture and prayer support

The Bible App is an excellent tool for grounding yourself spiritually. One of its standout features is the optional daily Bible verse widget. It also has guided devotionals, prayer plans, and meditation-style scripture readings to bring peace and perspective during stressful moments.

4. Anxiety Log (Free)

Best for: Tracking anxiety and learning coping strategies

Anxiety Log is a simple yet effective way to track anxiety episodes and identify triggers. It offers guided breathing exercises and journal prompts to help you work through stress and anxious thoughts.

Best for: Quick and practical breathing exercises

Deep breathing is one of the fastest ways to calm anxiety, and iBreathe makes it easy. With simple guided exercises, you can help regulate your breath and reduce stress in just a few minutes.

Best for: Mood tracking and journaling

Daylio is a mood and habit tracker that requires no typing—just tap to log your emotions and activities. Over time, it helps you identify trends in your mental health, making it easier to recognize what boosts your mood.

Best for: Reducing overwhelm and structuring your day

If life transitions and anxiety leave you feeling overwhelmed and scattered, this app can help. It allows you to break down big tasks into manageable steps, helping you stay organized and focused without added stress.

Hand touching ocean water for calming effect

Best for: Meditation, sleep, and relaxation

Calm offers guided meditations, sleep stories, and relaxing sounds to help you manage stress and anxiety. Whether you need a quick moment of peace or a full sleep routine, this app has you covered.

Best for: Sleep tracking and stress management

Oura tracks your sleep, stress levels, and recovery to help you understand your body’s rhythms. While it’s an investment to purchase the ring, it provides helpful insights for optimizing rest and recovery for those interested in tracking biometrics.

Remember:

These apps aren’t a replacement for therapy, but they can certainly help you feel more supported between sessions. Whether you’re looking to build better habits, track your emotions, or find small ways to feel more at peace, there’s something here for you. Give one a try and see what works!
