Welcome to Remain Connected Counseling, a dedicated team of licensed therapists empowering lives since 2019.
Remain Connected Counseling is a strong guiding presence for countless individuals in Georgia, especially those seeking Christian counseling. We have offices in Marietta, Roswell, and Cartersville, as well as virtual sessions throughout Georgia. Remain Connected aims to meet you wherever you may be.
Our mission goes beyond clinical practice; it's about bringing the Kingdom of God to Earth. Each faith-based counseling session is our sacred opportunity to make a positive impact. Our team of counselors is driven by passion and faith— Remain Connected Counseling is ready to accompany you through emotional, relational, and spiritual healing.
Christian Counseling combines your faith with the principles of psychology to improve your mental health and relationships. It means that we, as Christians and as counselors, also lean into our own faith to best serve your needs. You matter, and so we use our clinical skills to guide you towards transformation and purpose. Our time with you is significant and more than a chance meeting. We are humbled and honored to sit down with you and be a part of your life. Christian Counseling offers you the opportunity to be fully open with us about your life, and your faith. Furthermore, where you find yourself with the assurance and comfort that we are listening with and led by our Christian faith.
Christian marriage counseling is counseling that is informed by a Biblical worldview and incorporates spiritual truth, wisdom, and God’s heart for marriage into the counseling work and relationship. The goal of Christian marriage counseling is to keep God at the center of your marriage and to facilitate a relationship based on love, respect, and partnership.
Couples counseling will begin with an intake session in which your counselor will get to know you as a couple and explore the concerns that are bringing you to therapy. Your therapist will also meet with each member of the couple individually to get each individual’s background, perspective on current relationship issues, and significant life events. After the intake process, your therapist will work with you to develop communication skills, conflict resolution strategies, and deeper intimacy and connection. While there may be the occasional focus on one partner, you can expect that your therapist will not take sides.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic technique. It was originally developed for trauma treatment and seeks to impact the way that trauma memories are stored in the brain. EMDR uses eye movements or other types of bilateral (both sides of the body) stimulation. This helps bring the logical side of our brain into the trauma memory and helps us store the memory more in a more adaptive way. By doing so, the memory no longer has as much of an impact on daily life. EMDR therapy is considered one of the gold-standard treatments for trauma recovery. It has been validated in over 50 peer-reviewed clinical studies.
Our therapists know that there are many reasons you might be experiencing anxiety. We know that anxiety manifests in very unique ways for every individual. We work with you to understand your unique lived experiences and symptoms of anxiety. Your anxiety therapist can then help you distinguish personality traits from symptoms of anxiety. Additionally, your therapist will help you develop tools and skills to manage your anxiety in a better way that fits with your lifestyle. An anxiety therapist can give you an unbiased perspective about how and why anxiety comes up in your life. This kind of support can help you lessen the shame and blame you put on yourself and it can help you finally move forward from the box anxiety tries to keep you in.
At Remain Connected, we help teens find their purpose and passion in life, supporting them in as they grow up in this world. Growing up in a world like today is not easy. Teenagers have plenty of obstacles in their way- bullies, family pressures, peer pressure, relationships and any other things that can come up. It’s not easy being you! Sometimes you need to talk through what is going on. We do not always know how to handle how we feel or what we feel. A counselor can help!
Depression is something you can have like any other illness; depression does not define who you are. That means there is a solution and we can help you find it by uncovering the root cause of your depression. During your intake, we will look at all possible reasons for your depression. We catch physical symptoms, like eating, sleeping, and living patterns. Spiritually, we look into anger, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, and/or other life circumstances. Mentally, sometimes it is genetics that affects us, and other times it is growing up with negative core beliefs. No matter where you fall on this spectrum, our therapists will give you practical tools that will help you to feel better and to have hope again.
Our trauma therapists are trained in many strategies to help you overcome trauma and PTSD. One particularly effective trauma treatment is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which has a structured format to help you move through treatment and reduce your trauma or PTSD symptoms. EMDR is not a perfect fit for everyone, so you and your therapist can discuss if it is a good fit for you. Whether you and your therapist choose to use EMDR or not, you can expect your trauma therapist to provide a calm, open space for healing. They will meet you where you are, whether that’s feeling ready to tackle your symptoms or in the grieving process for what trauma has taken from you.
Most people think that by leaving the stressful situation they will eradicate their stress. Although it may be true for a short period of time, a professional Atlanta therapist will help you identify specific stressors. So you will not fall into them in the next situation, place, or people. Running away from stress will give you peace of mind for a few months, identifying stressors and learning how to manage stress relief will transform your life forever.
Some of the basic treatments that we use for stress are mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy, and interpersonal therapy. We want you to have the right tools and therefore we do not believe that one type of therapy fits all. Our counselors get to know you and provide you with the best tools from different theoretical orientations that fit your lifestyle. We work with you to gain knowledge about how your body is affected by stress and what techniques to use to heal your heart, soul, mind, and body.
Life transitions range from losing a parent to having a baby; from the biggest celebrations to the hardest losses. This past couple of years, the world went through a huge transition called the pandemic. Most life transitions are chosen but some, like a worldwide pandemic, are simply put in our path to navigate. Whether positive like marriage or negative like divorce, Remain Connected Counseling would love to support you in this journey. We are looking for stability and peace. Then when we cannot find them, it is wise and brave to seek help.
Virtual therapy is an excellent resource for many people for a variety of reasons. Teletherapy might be a good fit for you if:
You do not have a lot of flexibility in your schedule. Cutting out the commute to an Atlanta therapist’s office can be a lifesaver when you need counseling, but life feels very hectic.
The type of counseling you need is not available in your geographic area.
Or the idea of meeting with someone in-person causes anxiety. For some with social anxiety, meeting over video can eliminate awkward encounters with people in the waiting room or stress associated with in-person interaction.
There are times that online therapy is not the best fit. Some examples of cases where in-person therapy could be a better option:
You do not have privacy at home.
Or you do not have reliable internet access or phone service.
Certain treatments for crises, like those for active suicidal thoughts or psychosis, are not as effective via online therapy and are better done in person.
